ERG 2016: One-day Duration

The nature of handling with hazardous materials or waste makes emergencies a continual possibility, no matter how infrequently they may actually occur. Emergencies happen quickly, unexpectedly and require immediate response. PHMSA's 2016 Emergency Response Guidebook (ERG) provides first responders with a go-to manual to help deal with hazmat transportation accidents during the critical first 30 minutes. This class will train you to train your employees to safely respond to these unexpected situations.

Here’s what this FREE training will cover:

  • Introduce attendees to the updated 2016 ERG
  • Understanding roles, responsibilities and authority of each member of the emergency response team
  • Understand site security, control, and communications
  • How to select and properly use Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) including gloves, eye protection, respirators and level “A” through “D” suits
  • Introduce attendees to Safety Data Sheets (SDS) for the hazardous materials they use, ship, store, package or transport

It’s critical that employees understand the potential risks of the hazardous materials they may be shipping, receiving, packaging and transporting. These risks can be reduced and even eliminated through the use of appropriate preparation techniques. These emergency preparation techniques coupled with a proper understanding of emergency response techniques can limit the negative impact of a hazmat incident. This class will introduce attendees to the ERG as well as cover the techniques mentioned above so that you can train your employees and develop your own site specific safety protocols for your organization.
