What Our Attendees Say About SWA

Class Information

HAZMAT emergency preparation and response can be a fast and fluid challenge. During this three-day train-the-trainer class, we will start with the basics including HAZMAT terminology, proper selection and use of PPE, all with the goal to enable students to teach others. What is involved in writing plans, fit testing respirators or selecting the right level of protection? Bring your cameras and get out of your seats as this will be a fun, interactive, hands on class. DOT requires that those who handle, package and transport Hazardous Materials can explain potential problems to First Responders with a goal of limiting the emergency event. Join us for this class and we’ll teach you how to do that and much more!

HazMat Prep & Response

The nature of handling hazardous materials or waste makes accidents a continual possibility, no matter how infrequently they may actually occur. They happen quickly, unexpectedly, and require immediate response. This class will provide trainers and consultants with the resources to train your employees in responding to these unexpected situations.

Why this class is for me?

49CFR 172.604 identifies the responsibilities of the individual(s) who fields the call in the case of an accident. They must have knowledge of the shipment and be able to immediately provide information on what to do in an emergency. Learn what is required at this class!

Reasons to attend:

  • Do your clients, or your employees go to locations that require them to wear respirators?
  • Are they required to put on PPE of any kind?
  • Does your staff know what to do if an accident happens? Who to call?
  • What needs to be done in the event of a spill?
  • What your employees need to know if they handle/package/transport hazmat?

It’s critical that employees understand the potential risks of the hazardous materials they work with. These risks can be reduced and even eliminated through the use of appropriate preparation techniques. These emergency preparation techniques coupled with a proper understanding of emergency response techniques and how to work with Emergency Responders can limit the negative impact of a hazmat incident. This class will introduce attendees to the 2020 ERG, GHS compliant Safety Data Sheets, HAZMAT terminology, proper selection and use of PPE and various Apps. Combining all the techniques mentioned above so that you can train your employees and develop your own site specific safety protocols for your organization. This all with the goal to enable attendees to teach others.
